Blackthorn – Prunus spinosa
Blackthorn is a shrub that reaches up to 3 meters in height and has a lot of prics. This plant’s leaves are oval; the flowers white and very tiny.
The fruit is spherical, small and blue-purple in color. Usually grows in conspicuous places, along roads and higher areas. The fruit abounds with vitamin C and possesses great antioxidant effects; it is used against inflammation of the digestive organs, diarrhea and other intestinal diseases. Besides fruits, flowers of the blackthorn are used as remedy against enlarged prostate and urinary tract diseases.
