Salep – Orchis morio
Salep is perennial herb with stem reaching up to 50 cm in height.
The leaves are elongated; the flower is on top of the plant and in various colors. It grows in meadows, on the hills, near water and on higher areas. The composition of salep contains mucus, starch and sucrose which make it useful for the treatment of inflammation in the throat, mouth, respiratory tract, inflammation of the stomach and intestines; it is also used against cough.
