Fern - Aspidium filix mas

Category: Билки и лековити растенија - Herbs and medicinal plants - Βότανα και φαρμακευτικά φυτά

Fern is a perennial plant that grows in height of about 20-30 cm.

Fern differs from seed-plants by way of reproduction because the fern does have neither flowers nor seeds. Fern has many leaves grouped and arranged on both sides in a form of feathers with deep green color. The fern grows in moist forests, mainly along streams and springs. The fern does not possess many medicinal properties; therefore its use must be supervised by a doctor because of risk of poisoning, visual impairment and carcinogenic effects. The root of the fern is used for treatments in stuttering speech and against migraine; fern tea is used for varicose veins.
