Hazel – Corylus avellana

Hazel belongs to the genus of deciduous trees and large shrubs reaching up to 5 meters in height.

The leaves are rounded with serrated peaks; flowers are bud-shaped or catkins arising in the spring before the leaves development. The fruit is a kernel in a hard nutshell. The hazel grows in wet areas close to forests and at higher altitude. In the traditional medicine dry leaves, the bark and fruit of hazel are used as remedy. Hazel tea is used to treat an enlarged prostate, it improves the blood circulation, to treat varicose veins, hemorrhoids and diarrhea.
